High School Wilderness is a three night and four day camping experience that encourages building connection with our community. Success in the Northpoint program requires interactions, and the bonds built on Wilderness support our students throughout the academic year. It permits time to shift away from habitualized phone use and virtual realities into genuine social and wilderness interactions.

The hiking on Wilderness is nothing too strenuous or technical, however, day hikes are a normal occurrence. Most of the campsites have hiking trails in the area, so plan for 2 – 4 mi. hikes as part of student daily activities. Campsites have vaulted toilets, and each gender is instructed in hygiene in the woods protocols.

One of the most important things to expect and prepare for is the weather; Wilderness occurs in the middle of monsoon season. This is why packing rain gear is one of the most critical parts of preparations. Students will need a raincoat or poncho, and stuff sacks or trash bags to keep themselves and their gear dry.
